Monthly Cost of Living Calculator
A simple, honest picture of what comes in, what gets saved, and what it really costs to live each month.
Bank balance at the start of the month
The account balance before the month’s deposits come in.
Net money in
The amounts actually deposited into the account (net pay, net rental income, other deposits).
Savings made during the month
Amounts transferred to savings or investments (TFSA, RRSP, LIRA, non-registered, etc.).
Bank balance at the end of the month
The account balance at the very end of the month.
Credit card balance
An increase in the credit card balance means spending that hasn’t left the bank account yet — so it adds to the month’s real cost of living.
Starting balance + Money in − Savings − Ending balance
